The European Commission announced that it was to deploy an EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) for the Parliamentary and Provincial elections in Afghanistan, scheduled to take place on 18 September 2005. The EU EOM was to be led by Emma Bonino, Member of the European Parliament and its Committee on Foreign Affairs. |
