Press Release: EU-Egypt relations: initialling of new Association Agreement

On 26.1.01, in Brussels, the EU and Egypt finalised the negotiation on the Association Agreement between the EU and the Arab Republic of Egypt, paving the way fora new era in bilateral relations and consolidating the Euro-Mediterranean partnership launched by the 1995 Barcelona conference. Negotiators jointly initialled the text of the Agreement which will now be submitted by both sides for ratification prior to its entry into force.
