Press Release: EU concerned at US decision to impose duties on uranium imports

The EU expressed its disappointment and concern, on 10.5.01, at the decision taken by the United States Department of Commerce's to impose provisional countervailing duties on imports of low enriched uranium from the EU. The Commission stated that it would pursue further consultations with the United States with a view to having this decision reversed at the stage of a definitive finding. The Commission also stated that it reserved the right to take the matter up in the World Trade Organisation if the case was not resolved satisfactorily in the meantime.
