The European Parliament approved in plenary on 15 December 2015 a non-legislative resolution regarding the European Union's electricity market.

MEPs showed that fully integrating this market could cut bills by at least €2 per MWh, and thus save users up to €40 billion a year by 2030. However, to achieve this, member states needed to invest €150 billion to interconnect their national grids.
