Press Release: Electric Lamps Safer for Children Across Europe

The European Commission set out newrecommendations on 3 June 2002 to apply to lamps that might appeal to children. They set out risk assessment and technical safety requirements for these lamps, aimed at reducing the risk of children getting electric shocks or being exposed to live parts if they handle these lights or try and treat them as toys. The recommendations apply to lamps not intended or sold for use as 'toys'.
