The Panel on Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Food (AFC Panel)of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), on 26 February 2008, issued an unfavourable opinion on vanadium containing compounds which may be used in certain types of foods including food supplements. The AFC Panel is currently assessing a number of chemical compounds that are used for nutritional purposes.
