The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), in early October 2011, completed the first stage of a major piece of work that will provide the scientific basis for the modernisation of meat inspection across the EU. On 3 October 2011, EFSA issued the first of six sets of Scientific Opinions and Scientific Reports. This first set covers the inspection of swine. The five remaining sets of Opinions and reports will cover poultry; bovine animals over six weeks old; bovine animals under six weeks old; domestic sheep and goats; farmed game and domestic solipeds. |
