Press Release: EESC welcomes greater civil society involvement in EU 2020 Strategy. But roadmap out of the crisis needs to be more ambitious

The European Economic and Social Committee welcomed on 4 March 2010 the European Commission's Communication 'Europe 2020 – A European Strategy for smart, green and inclusive growth' and the plan to involve the EESC more closely in the new strategy. "Civil society has the capacity to be a vehicle for successful implementation of the future strategy. To get any new agenda to fast track implementation, all stakeholders need to join and pool their forces in order to achieve a sustainable social market economy," said EESC president Mario Sepi.
