Following a plane crash which killed 144 passengers and 6 air crew members on 24 March 2015 and subsequent investigation - which suggested the co-pilot Andreas Lubitz crashed the plane on purpose after locking his captain out of the cockpit - the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a temporary recommendation for airlines to ensure that at least two crew, including at least one qualified pilot, are in the flight crew compartment at all times of the flight. An official from the European Commission told the press on 27 March 2015 it was preparing new air safety measures in order to include the same indication. |
