Press Release: Diamantopoulou and Rodrigues to launch equal initiative

European Employment Commissioner, Anna Diamantopoulou and Portuguese Minister for Labour Ferro Rodrigues launched on 14.4.00 EQUAL, the new Community initiative designed to combat discrimination in the jobs market. Hailing the landmark event, Anna Diamantopoulou said: 'The challenge of EQUAL lies in promoting new solutions to tackling discrimination and inequality in the labour market. It will act as testing ground to develop new ways of delivering labour market policies to support the European Employment Strategy'.
