The Irish Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Dermot Ahern, received backing at EU level, on 14 September 2003, to provide new powers to protect young people and control offensive advertising on television services originating outside a State. The Minister hoped to change EU rules on broadcasting during Ireland's Presidency of the EU in 2004. |
