Press Release: Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the European Union on the agreement reached between the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia and the Union of Islamic Courts

The European Union (EU) welcomed the agreement reached in Khartoum, Sudan, on 22 June 2006 establishing a basis for negotiations between the Somali Transitional Federal Institutions and the Union of Islamic Courts, and congratulates both League of Arab States and the Sudanese government for facilitating the talks.
