The High Representative, Catherine Ashton on 3 June 2013, on behalf of the European Union, regreted the adoption of amendments to the Criminal Code Act (Amendment Bill 2013) on 28 May 2013 which pave the way for the application of the death penalty in Papua New Guinea, extend the death penalty to new categories of offence such as robbery with violence and introduce new methods of execution such as suffocation and electrocution. |
