Press Release: Daphne programme against violence towards women and children arouses lively interest in the EU

The European Commission issued on 11 April 2002 a mid-term review on the way the Daphne programme against violence in Europe, which runs from the beginning of the year 2000 to the end of 2003, has been implemented. It shows the huge support for the programme with over 622 proposals received by the European Commission in 2000 and 2001 and requests for funding totalling €40 million in 2000 and €22 million in 2001, much in excess of the annual €5 million budget line set aside for Daphne.
