The need to address the 'skills mismatch' will be the focus of a speech by Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, at the European University Cyprus Forum on Youth and Employment on 21 March 2014. The European Commission is working together with Member States to put in place a Youth Guarantee, aimed at ensuring that all young people under 25 get a good-quality, concrete offer of a job, apprenticeship, traineeship, or continued education within four months of leaving formal education or becoming unemployed. Over the next seven years, the new Erasmus+ programme will provide grants for 15 000 Cypriot students, young people and education, training and youth staff to study, train or volunteer abroad, a 50% increase on the number supported under previous programmes. |
