Press Release: Customs: Commissioner Bolkestein welcomes Council agreement on adoption of revised Code

Customs Commissioner Frits Bolkestein has welcomed the political agreement reached at the Internal Market Council of 16.3.00 on a common position on a Commission proposing adoption of a Regulation to streamline and modernise the operation of the Community's Customs Code. The European Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg on 5.10.00 approved without amendment the Common Position adopted formally by the Council of Ministers on 25.5.00, so that the measure has now been definitively adopted according to the so-called co-decision procedure.
