Peter Straub, President of the Committee of the Regions, highlighted the benefits of increased cooperation between the CoR and regional parliaments when he delivered the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies (CALRE) in Milan, Italy, on 25 October 2004 .
