Press Release: Conference on innovative actions in the Fisheries sector

A conference, organised by the European Commission on innovative actions in the Fisheries sector, was held in Vaasa, Finland on 22-23 September 2006. The conference, which focused on the role of women, was an opportunity to share best practice and evaluate the results of innovative projects funded under the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG). The findings of an external evaluation of the projects was presented, as well as the possibilities for future innovative actions under the European Fisheries Fund which will enter into force in January 2007. The conference was aimed at project managers and representatives of Member States and the European Parliament.
