On 19 June, 2009, EU Commissioner for Science and Research Janez Potočnik participated in the EUREKA Ministerial Conference in Lisbon. EUREKA is an intergovernmental network, with 40 countries and including the European Commission, created to support leading edge industrial R&D and promote cross-border cooperation. The Ministerial Conference meeting focused on the EUREKA strategy for international cooperation, the Eurostars's programme dedicated to research-intensive small and medium enterprises, and the preliminary stage for membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Earlier this year, Bosnia and Herzegovina also became an associated country to the 7th European Framework Programme for Research (FP7). |
