Press Release: Commissioner Piebalgs recalls EU’s support to North Sea oil research in a top conference in Norway

The EU has invested a lot of effort and funds in developing efficient European technologies capable of facing the enormous energy challenges of the North Sea. The success has been remarkable: starting from literally no previous experience at the beginning of the North Sea era, the EEA has become a key global leader in the field of Energy today. This is one of the messages that Energy Commissioner, Andris Piebalgs, delivered to the participants of the Offshore Northern Seas Conference in Stavanger (Norway), 23 August 2006.
