Press Release: Commissioner Piebalgs meets Kazak Energy minister Mynbayev to discuss bilateral energy issues

Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and Kazak Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev have met in Brussels to discuss energy cooperation, including the latest developments in the Kashagan oil project on the Caspian shelf. "Successful energy partnerships are based on the principles of mutual respect, transparency, predictability and non-discrimination. I welcome explanations made by the minister about the discussions of Kazakh authorities with the Kashagan consortium and look forward receiving further information about the case", said Commissioner Piebalgs after the meeting.
