Press Release: Commissioner Michel sends a warning signal on shortage of doctors and nurses in Africa

Louis Michel, the European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, expressed his concern about the critical shortage of doctors and nurses in Africa, on World Health Day, 7 April 2006. He criticised the negative impact that the increasing dependence of wealthy countries on international recruitment of health workers was having on healthcare in developing countries.
