On 3 May 2007, the European Commission joins the celebration of the 2007 UN World Press Freedom Day, dedicated this year to the safety and impunity of journalists. Freedom of information – and access to information – are basic human rights which should be available to everyone world wide. Freedom of expression is one of the first human rights priorities of the European Union inside and outside its borders. |
