Press Release: Commission sets out policy guidelines for promoting sustainable transport in development

The European Commission has approved a new transport policy that sets out policy guidelines for promoting sustainable transport in developing countries. The approach is sectoral. The new policy outlined in a Communication to the Council will improve transport's contribution to achieving the European Union's development goals. It aims to deliver transport that is safe, economically, financially and institutionally sustainable as well as environmentally sound and socially aware.
