The European Commission on 16 December 2005 decided to refer Sweden to the European Court of Justice because, under Swedish tax law, capital gains from home sales attracted tax relief only if the sold home was situated in Sweden and the sales proceeds were reinvested in a replacement residence in Sweden. |
