Press Release: Commission provides €2 million for flood victims in Sri Lanka

The European Commission decided in January 2011 to provide emergency funding of €2 million for humanitarian assistance to flood victims in Sri Lanka. Some of the heaviest rains in Eastern and North Central Sri Lanka in previous weeks have resulted in significant flooding affecting close to 1 million people. This action will be implemented through international aid agencies to provide primarily emergency food assistance, water and sanitation, and emergency relief items.
