The European Commission on 12 April 2006 adopted proposals for an improved authorisation procedure for the marketing and production of genetically modified food, feed and crops in the European Union. The measures proposed would make improvements within the existing legal framework, in compliance with EC and WTO law, and avoiding any undue delays in authorisation procedures.
