The proposals include rationalisation, simplification and better transparency, such as the replacement of the 5-year renewal procedure by reinforced pharmaco-vigilance monitoring. In addition, clearer procedures shall be introduced allowing tests on pharmaceuticals to be performed in advance of patent expiry.
