Press Release: Commission proposes a more efficient financial assistance to Turkey

On 25 April 2001 the European Commission proposed a regulation aimed at making the EU's pre-accession financial assistance to Turkey more efficient. The draft regulation, proposed at the initiative of Günter Verheugen, European Commissioner for Enlargement, will ensure that this assistance is coordinated under a single, efficient programme, and that all funding is targeted at addressing the pre-accession priorities set out in the Accession Partnership with Turkey.
