The Commission decided on 15 May 2002 to finance a €5.9m programme to raise public support for the Afghan Interim Authority (AIA), using the Rapid Reaction Mechanism. The main objective of this programme is to provide rapid support for the interim Afghan administration by building up its institutional capacity, and to build confidence among the Afghan population and its different ethnic groups. |
