Press Release: Commission authorises reform of French motorway concession system

The European Commission has decided to authorise the French Government's plan to reform its operating concession system for motorways. The aim of this reform is to stimulate the widest possible competition, by treating all concerned equally when the time comes to award future concessions. In particular, the period of validity of six motorway concessions is to be extended in return for removing financial advantages enjoyed by the concession-holders concerned in the past.
