Press Release: Commission assesses the updated Stability Programme of Spain

On 28.2.01 the European Commission made a recommendation to the Council of Ministers on the second and most recent updated Stability Programme of Spain, which covers the period 2000-2004. The Commission concluded that the updated Stability Programme of Spain was in line with the requirements of the Stability and Growth Pact and the Broad Economic Policy Guidelines (BEPG). On the basis of the Commission's recommendation, the Council is expected to adopt a formal opinion on the update of Spain's Stability Programme in March 2001.
