Press Release: Commission allocates EUR20 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan

To address the continuing humanitarian needs in Afghanistan and foster the return and reintegration process of refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) , the European Commission on 25 Jaunary 2006 decided to allocated €20 million in humanitarian aid. Assistance was also planned for regions in neighbouring Pakistan and Iran with high numbers of Afghan refugees. The two countries were still playing host to four million Afghans.
