Press Release: Commission adopts new Social Policy Agenda

On 28.6.00 the European Commission adopted a new Social Policy Agenda which will run up to the year 2005. The Agenda sets out to modernise the European social model, promote more and better jobs and convert the political commitments made at the Lisbon and Feira European Councils into concrete action. The Agenda will be a key input to the work programme of the French Presidency and the Nice European Summit in December. It will also provide an important contribution to the annual synthesis report to the Spring European Council, the first of which will take place in Stockholm in 2001.
