Speaking at a pan-European meeting of skills Ministers in Maastricht on 14 December 2004, the UK Minister for Education, Charles Clarke, urged Ministers and delegates from 32 European countries to address the dangers of drifting on the EU's Lisbon strategy - a strategy designed to create a dynamic, highly competitive knowledge-based economy in Europe by 2010. The Minister also announced that he had commissioned a report, to be published in February 2005, with recommendations and an action plan on how the UK can better work towards the Lisbon objectives. |
