Chris Patten, European Commissioner for External Relations, met with representatives of the Central American region on 25 March 2004. During the meeting, the Commissioner and the Ministers exchanged views on progress achieved in the regional integration process in Central America in the light of the recently-signed EU-Central America Political Dialogue and Co-operation Agreement and the Madrid 2002 Declaration that opened the way for a future Association Agreement between the two regions. The latter is conditional on the achievement of progress in regional integration and should build on the outcome of the Doha Development Agenda. |
