In its report on car prices issued on 19.2.01, the European Commission found that price differentials for new cars across the European Union were still substantial. The situation on 1 November 2000 showed that after conversion of prices into euro, the United Kingdom remained the most expensive market for almost all models examined, despite the price cuts undertaken by some manufacturers on the British market. Finland, Spain and the Netherlands, as well as Denmark, a non-member of the Euro zone, continued to be the markets where car prices before tax were generally the lowest. |
