Press Release: Capping emissions from medium-sized combustion plants

The European Parliament approved in plenary on 7 October 2015 a proposal to set limits on the emission of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide for medium-sized combustion plants, such as electricity generators or heating systems for domestic, residential or industrial use.

These plans had already been informally agreed with the Council of the European Union, but still need formal approval before the adoption. In areas where these emissions breach EU air quality standards, EU countries would be required to assess whether to introduce stricter limits.
