Press Release: Can 800 million Europeans share a common political identity?

The Council of Europe is to holdi a series of three meetings (April 2001, September 2001 and early 2002) on the concept of 'The European Identity', in which researchers, historians, philosophers, political and diplomatic figures and representatives of the media will take part. It is hoped that a Declaration on European Identity, to be called 'The founding elements of a European political identity', will subsequently be adopted.
