Press Release: Baroness Scotland welcomes European Directive on civil legal aid

Baroness Scotland, UK Parliamentary Secretary in the Lord Chancellor's Department, said on 14 October 2002, that she welcomed the fact that European justice ministers meeting in Luxembourg the same day, had reached agreement on a directive on civil legal aid. The directive will improve access to justice in cross-border civil disputes. Please note that the Lord Chancellor's Department was abolished in 2003 and replaced by a new Department for Constitutional Affairs.
