The European Community Monitoring Mission has been the 'eyes and ears' of the EU in the Balkans since July 1991. The European Union Monitoring Mission is the only international civilian presence in the Presevo valley to carry out regular monitoring. It is composed of 110 international monitors organised in mobile teams with a rapid deployment capability. The EUMM is not in the Presevo area for mediation purposes, but its presence is of key importance from an early warning and information point of view and has a confidence building character in itself. |
