The European Commission announced on 9 September 2005 that it had approved a further contribution of €38 million out of the €207 million pledged for Indonesia's Aceh province following the Tsunami. This came after a first payment of €30 million in July 2005. To co-ordinate the EU reconstruction activities, the Commission was planning to establish within few days the 'Europe House' in Banda Aceh. Most of the Commission funds to the region were to be channelled through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for the post-Tsunami reconstruction. |
