The European Commission adopted on 30 June 2005 a proposal for a Regulation establishing a European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. As the Commission has chosen the protection and promotion of fundamental rights as one of its basic policy objectives, the creation of the Agency is an important tool in meeting this objective. |
