At the conclusion of a 3 day EU conference hosted by Ireland during its Presidency of the EU, delegates were told that EU member States have a major opportunity to shape the future of rural areas for the next 10 years. The conference, 'Improving Living Conditions and Quality of Life in Rural Europe', was held in Westport, County Mayo, from 30 May to 1 June 2004. |
