The statutory inquiry into the death of ex-Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in the UK in 2006 was published on the 21 January 2016. It found that the murder of Mr Litvinenko had 'probably' been approved by Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

Following the announcement of the inquiry's results, United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron stated the country was to take tougher action against Russia. Andrei Lugovoi, one of two men accused of poisoning the former spy, said findings were only invention, supposition and rumours.
