European and Iranian negotiators said talks in Vienna, 27 October 2004, on Tehran's nuclear programme had been positive but there were no signs of breakthrough on the key issue of uranium enrichment. British, German and French officials, and European Union diplomats, had asked for a response to a package presented earlier in October 2004, to persuade Iran to halt its uranium enrichment activities in line with a resolution by the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
