Portugal border controls aim to foil Euro 2004 hooligans

Portugal is to host the Euro 2004 football championships in June 2004 and is to impose tight border controls to prevent entry of known soccer hooligans. The Portuguese Government is expected to suspend the country's participation in the Schengen Agreement, which has abolished border checks between 15 Member States.
