Poll shows EU resistance on Afghan war

Report of the results of the FT/Harris Interactive poll carried out in January 2009 in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the US. Questions in this poll mainly referred to issues relating to Barack Obama's becoming President of the United States, 20 January 2009. Voters in the European countries tend to positive views about the new President, but will resist further European engagement in Afghanistan, want the US to negotiate with Iran and place a different priority on the terrorism threat.
