According to campaigners, radical changes proposed for the European Union's sugar regime will mean that developing world producers will not survive. The Executive Director of the Sugar Producers' Association of Mozambique told a conference in Madrid that unless his country were allowed more time to become a competitive producer it would be left with nothing but 'HIV, malaria and poverty'. |
