The BBC reported that she urged voters to reject 'damaging Europhobia' led by UKIP in the May 2014 European Parliament election. She said that only her party could 'further the Welsh national interest at the heart of Europe'.

The Western Mail reported that she had also announced a consultation on the creation of new private sector-led body to seek opportunities to invest EU funds.
